Introduction
What if gravity, biological organization, and neural awareness could be examined within a single mathematical framework without assuming that they are already known to arise from the same physical mechanism?
The Coupled Field of Being explores that possibility through a proposed three-layer structure involving atomic, electromagnetic, and informational descriptions of physical systems.
The paper begins with a deliberately limited physical hypothesis. It defines an informational energy-density quantity as Φ=Ts
where T is local temperature and s is entropy density, and introduces the corresponding dimensionless scalar ϕ=Φ0Φ.
This scalar is then coupled to electromagnetism through a gauge-invariant, dilaton-type interaction and incorporated into a gravitational field model. The objective is not to declare gravity, life, and awareness solved, but to determine whether a mathematically consistent coupling can produce a specific physical prediction that can eventually be constrained experimentally.
The biological and neural portions of the paper extend the same structural idea into other domains, but they are explicitly treated as analog hypotheses rather than established consequences of the gravitational model.
The central question is therefore narrower than the title might initially suggest:
Can a thermodynamically defined scalar quantity coupled to electromagnetism produce a measurable physical effect, while related structural models generate independently testable predictions in biological and neural systems?
The Physical Model
The paper constructs a Lagrangian in which the dimensionless scalar field modifies the electromagnetic term while retaining explicit gravitational, scalar-kinetic, and potential contributions.
Variation of the action produces three corresponding sets of equations:
- modified electromagnetic field equations
- a scalar-field equation sourced by the electromagnetic invariant
- Einstein gravitational field equations sourced by the total stress-energy
The formulation is designed so that every term has explicit physical dimensions and the total stress-energy remains conserved.
This matters because an earlier version of the framework contained dimensional and numerical problems. The present paper explicitly corrects those issues rather than preserving a larger predicted effect that the mathematics does not support.
The Core Gravitational Prediction
In the weak-field limit, the model predicts that an additional effective energy density δρ produces a fractional change in gravitational acceleration of approximately
gΔg≃34πρmc2δρ,
up to geometry-dependent prefactors.
Where:
- Δg/g is the fractional gravitational-acceleration shift
- δρ is the additional effective energy density produced by the coupled configuration
- ρm is the host material mass density
- c is the speed of light
For the illustrative laboratory parameters used in the paper,
δρ=10−5 Jm−3
and ρm=103 kgm−3,
the predicted fractional effect is gΔg≈4.6×10−25.
This value is extremely small. The paper does not claim that existing laboratory instruments can already detect it. Rather, it establishes the scale implied by the stated model and turns the coupling into something that can, in principle, be experimentally constrained. Earlier larger estimates are explicitly withdrawn as arithmetic errors.
How the Physical Hypothesis Could Be Tested
The proposed experimental strategy is based on differential measurement.
A high-Q electromagnetic cavity or related controlled apparatus would alternate between different electromagnetic or thermal configurations while a precision gravitational measurement searches for a phase-correlated response.
The proposed test asks whether changing the coupled electromagnetic state produces the predicted gravitational modulation.
A persistent null result at sufficient sensitivity would constrain the combination of coupling parameters responsible for the effect.
That distinction is important:
A null result is not reinterpreted as hidden confirmation. It reduces or excludes the allowed parameter space of the model.
The physical claim is therefore falsifiable in the ordinary scientific sense.
Biology: A Separate Morphodynamic Hypothesis
The biological portion of the paper does not claim that life has been derived from the gravitational equations.
Instead, it introduces a dimensionally consistent cross-diffusion model:
∂tc=D∇2c−γ∇⋅(c∇ϕ),
where the scalar gradient acts as a proposed bias on pattern formation or persistence.
The relevant dimensionless control parameter is
χ=Dγϕ0.
The hypothesis is that slow modulation of the scalar quantity could influence persistence in biological pattern dynamics under controlled conditions.
No universal percentage change, biological threshold, or fixed effect size is asserted in the paper. Any experiment would need preregistered metrics, controls, uncertainty estimates, and independently measured outcomes.
Neural Awareness: A Synchrony Hypothesis
The third layer examines neural organization using phase synchronization.
For neural phases θk, the paper defines S(t)=N1k∑eiθk,
with synchronization measured through R(t)=∣S(t)∣.
The proposed hypothesis is that slow changes in the coarse-grained scalar quantity may alter the stability of highly synchronized neural states.
This is explicitly presented as an analog hypothesis, not as evidence that consciousness has been reduced to a scalar field or that the proposed field causes subjective awareness.
The appropriate experimental pathway would involve controlled EEG or MEG measurements under safe, preregistered conditions.
No fixed neural phase-locking increase is claimed by the paper.
What the Framework Actually Shows
The strongest result of The Coupled Field of Being is not experimental confirmation of a universal field.
It is the construction of a more disciplined research architecture connecting three levels of investigation:
Physics
A scalar-electromagnetic coupling produces a quantitative gravitational prediction.
Biology
A related scalar-gradient structure can be represented as a testable morphodynamic model.
Neural systems
A related scalar-modulation hypothesis can be tested against measurable synchronization behavior.
These levels should not be treated as equally established.
The gravitational component is a mathematical physical proposal with a derived effect size. The biological and neural components are downstream analog hypotheses that require their own experimental validation.
Why It Matters
The significance of the paper lies in converting a broad unification idea into separable scientific questions.
Instead of saying that gravity, life, and awareness must share one mechanism, the framework asks what would have to be measured before such a relationship could responsibly be considered.
For physics, the immediate question is whether the proposed scalar-electromagnetic coupling exists at all.
For biology, the question is whether controlled scalar-like gradients generate reproducible changes in pattern dynamics beyond conventional explanations.
For neuroscience, the question is whether a properly defined experimental variable produces reproducible changes in neural synchrony after ordinary electromagnetic, physiological, and statistical effects are controlled.
Each layer can therefore fail independently.
That is a strength of the framework rather than a weakness.
A More Careful Path Toward Unification
Many proposed theories of unification become difficult to test because several speculative ideas are bundled into a single claim.
The Coupled Field of Being takes a more useful route.
It begins with a mathematically specified physical interaction, derives a quantitative gravitational consequence, and then treats biological and neural applications as distinct hypotheses rather than automatically declaring them consequences of the same mechanism.
That creates an evidence ladder:
mathematical consistency → physical constraint → experimental signal → independent replication → domain-specific biological testing → domain-specific neural testing
Only if those stages survive should stronger claims about a common underlying physical mechanism be considered.
The Bigger Picture
The paper asks whether concepts usually separated into physics, biology, and awareness might ultimately admit a deeper common description.
It does not establish that conclusion.
What it does establish is a way to investigate the possibility without relying only on philosophical analogy.
The gravitational prediction has a defined equation and scale. The biological model has defined dynamical variables. The neural hypothesis has a measurable synchronization quantity. Each can be tested, constrained, modified, or rejected.
That is the scientific value of the proposal.
The Coupled Field of Being is therefore best understood not as the declaration of a new law of nature, but as an attempt to convert an ambitious unification hypothesis into a sequence of mathematical and experimental questions that nature can answer.
