Markets, organizations, climate, and even research programs all operate as systems—shaped by structure, feedback, and cycles. When those dynamics are understood, situations that seem unclear or contradictory start to make sense.

Our work applies a systems science approach to real-world decisions. Not to model everything in detail, but to step back and see:

  • how the system is actually behaving
  • where it’s stable or under pressure
  • what is starting to change
  • when is the next change most likely

Our perspective becomes most valuable when the usual analysis isn’t resolving the situation—and a decision still has to be made.

Climate & Weather

Where our work is used:

  • A grid operator has to decide whether to secure additional power supply ahead of a projected heat wave—but forecast models disagree on duration and severity. What we do differently: We don’t average the forecasts. We examine where they diverge and why—what assumptions are breaking—and use that to determine which scenario actually matters for the decision at hand.
  • A commodities team is positioning around agricultural output while rainfall and temperature models point in different directions.
    What we do differently: We focus on whether the system is behaving like a stable cycle or beginning to shift. That distinction changes how risk is sized—not just which direction to bet on.
  • An insurance or reinsurance group is reassessing risk after multiple “outlier” events.
    What we do differently: We help determine whether those events are truly outliers—or early signs that baseline conditions have changed. That decision directly informs whether models are adjusted or held.

Organizations

Where our work is used:

  • Revenue has plateaued for several quarters despite increased investment in hiring, marketing, and operations.
    What we do differently: We don’t start with performance metrics. We look at how effort is flowing through the system—where it’s being absorbed without producing results—and identify the structural constraint.
  • Product, sales, and operations teams are each hitting their targets, but overall performance is still below expectations.
    What we do differently: We map how those targets interact. In many cases, success in one area is unintentionally limiting progress in another. Fixing that interaction unlocks performance without adding more resources.
